I want to share a few thoughts with you regarding your teaching career.
Are you thinking of leaving the profession?
My intention here is to give you a short list of factors why teachers exit and the solutions.
I am a teacher-author, and teaching is my passion. I have worked as a kindergarten teacher, primary teacher, secondary teacher and lectured undergraduates online. So, I am enjoying and not enduring my teaching career.

Now, let me dive into the causes.
According to a 2025 UK report, it revealed that 34% of teachers are considering leaving the profession. 10% have left and 64% left in 2025. However, this is not only restricted to the UK. The problem exists in North America and Africa.
The teachers well being index 2025 enumerated the factors as follows:
It's a sector wide problem and not about you. The system sets people to fail and potential teachers are being tricked to enter the profession.
Teachers are overstressed, and it is negatively affecting their well being.
Toxic culture- no psychological safety.
Policy changes
Constant pressure
Time and energy barriers
Not enough time and resources
High workload
Some reports indicate that teachers are not paid for over workloads.
Based on Pew Research Survey, some respondents said, “educational institutions are too static and would not move forward quickly “
Although some teachers have jumped out and jumped back into the profession, you can't sacrifice your life for the profession.
If you want a change then something's got to change.
What's the way out❓
✓ Focus on your mental health.
✓Write a list of why you like teaching and weigh the pros and cons.
✓Know yourself, strengths and what's your value.
✓Work with a coach or mentor who can help you out of your rut.
✓Reduce your risk levels
✓Set up a side project instead of going through a career change.
✓Create an action and goal setting plan. Get clarity on your timeline.
✓Seek GOD and the HOLY SPIRIT guidance to energize you and make everything beautiful in your teaching career.
Summary
Of course, the teaching workload is significantly higher. The average teacher works 55-70 hours a week even during the holidays. This is two jobs in one.

Every teacher's job reacts on the home life. Your spouse and children know you're not keenly interested in your job when you go home with heavy steps and depressive mood.
Happiness is now regarded as one of the principles of efficient effective teaching.
This is true because it gives higher percentage of result. When teachers work happily, we do much more work without fatigue. We're less likely to make errors because we're not in a trance.
Our minds are well awake.

Teaching to educate the individual is a sacred responsibility, it involves a deliberate attempt to recreate an already created person thus complementing the divine work of GOD.
It is a life moulding process that frequently affects a child who is a complex, delicate, growing organism with certain potentialities that are carefully drawn out for gradual and overall development.
Thus teaching is not only a sacred job it is also a delicate responsibility.
Of course, the question might sound absurd to you. Your response would probably be "Are you kidding me? You think I'm smarter than you?
Well, if you're a teacher or student teacher, you're awesomer than me. Yes!
Okay, let me give you the whys.
You disect the right knowledge, glue them together and teach the lesson. In the process, you're giving a life a meaning to live, and changing their behavior. So, you're smarter than me. It's not a contest, just ask your students.
The only difference between us is the vehicle that I chose to apply my knowledge in. That's it!
What's more, why do I think you're smarter than me. Alright, let's use the metrics below to measure up
Your skills and opportunity match. Sometimes, I move into opportunities that don't match my skill set. I have A-level skills and apply it to B-level skills opportunities.
You are out there as a teacher,changing behavior and you don't start running with whatever you stumble upon. You've allowed for all growth.
Staying power. You have in built staying power on the job when your boat hits the roughest spot. Honestly, I have a weak point of listening to wrong voices and advise, which leads to catastrophic consequences.
This is something funny isn't it? Last, you're smarter than me because you focus 100% in one direction. You try to beat all your best teaching goals, your best times. As a result, your efforts has grown.
To add it all up, I have to go out and measure up to your metrics.
